Bond: The World Is Not Enough

Plot: James Bond figures out that a man who can't feel pain is threatening to launch a nuclear weapon, and is also trying to protect an oil kingpins daughter from her former kidnapper.
Review:
This is probably the low point of Brosnan's stint as James Bond. Although it has a great cast and the Bond girls are very attractive, it fails to deliver. It's action is fairly decent, there aren't really that many great gadgets, the car is in it for a few seconds and it's the last Bond film for Desmond Llewelyn's Q. But it does introduce Monty Python's John Cleese as his replacement, R who adds a bit of humour to the movie.
There is a great boat chase scene as Bond drives through the Thames River in an attempt to catch an assassin. A ski chase scene, and a few decent shoot outs. The villain in the movie, Robert Carlyle's Renard, has a special ability thanks to being shot in the head. He can't feel pain at all. So fighting him is quite difficult. There aren't really any other notable villains in the movie. Carlyle does a decent job, but he's not a menacing bad guy. The Bond girls are great in this. Brave Heart's Sophie Marceau as Elektra King and Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones. Marceau is being protected by Bond, because Renard kidnapped her and killed her father. Denise is in it briefly, but it's great to see her in a Bond film.
Overall, it's an ok flick. Decent action, great girls, decent bad guy, but poor gadgets. It could have been better.
