Godzilla (2014)

Plot: Godzilla awakens and fights a couple of creatures who live off of radiation and threaten humanity.

Review: The 2014 reboot of the Godzilla series is quite a good one. There's action, the monsters are all incredible to watch and the acting is superb. The movie starts in 1999 where Joe Brody (Bryan Cranston; Breaking Bad) and his wife Sandra (Juliette Binoche; The English Patient) are working together in a nuclear power plant in a town in Japan. All seems to be going well, until there are tremors in the plant. Sandra and her team go to investigate deeper and then Joe is forced to close them in stopping radiation from spreading to the rest of the power plant. Skip ahead to present times, and Joe gets arrested for entering a quarantine zone to gather old research. His son Ford (Aaron Taylor-Johnson; Kick-Ass) who is a soldier for the bomb disposal unit bails him out of jail and agrees to help him get back to their old home and gather research. They get caught and then once they get to the former nuclear power plant led by Dr. Ichiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe; The Last Samurai). Eventually they awaken what they were keeping secret. A creature called the MUTO  (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism). The MUTO escapes and kills a lot of people there and then Godzilla awakens and fights the MUTO.

Well I liked this movie, it was way better than the 1998 disaster starring Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that Bryan Cranston is only in the movie for a short while and the Godzilla monster is only in it five minutes or so every scene they show the monster. The real focus is of the MUTO creatures. But Godzilla fans will be pleased that he does breath fire and the fight at the end is the best monster fight scene I've seen in a long time. So if you loved the Godzilla movies, you will definitely appreciate this version!
