Dr. Zhivago

Plot: Tells the story of a man who's a poet and despite behind married falls for another woman and they struggle to live during the Bolshevik Revolution.
Review: To put it lightly, Dr. Zhivago is a true classic! This and Lawrence Of Arabia, both starring Omar Sharief, are probably two of the best movies of the 1960s. Set during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917, which broke apart the Tsarist autocracy and led the way for the Russian SFSR to be created. Dr. Zhivago tells the story of a man named Yuri Zhivago and starts off when he is a small boy. Director David Lean did a tremendous job recreating 1917 Russia by setting the location in both Spain and Canada. The cast that was chosen did a tremendous job. Omar Sharief was brilliant as Zhivago. Training to be a doctor, had a love for poetry, Sharief played the role perfectly as he and Lara were trying to survive during the Revolution.
This is a very long movie timed in at 200 minutes. The first half is probably the better part of the flick. Other noticeable actors include Rod Steiger as Komarovsky, Alec Guinness as Yevgraf, and Julie Christie as Lara. David Lean does a great job showing the hardship the Russians had to live through during that time and this is a great movie for those history buffs to watch.
